ABS-CBN and GMA-7 led the pack of winners at the recently concluded 16th Gawad Tanglaw Awards.

The Kapamilya Network's news and current affairs division took home a total of 13 awards, most of which were for programs being aired at the ABS-CBN News Channel.

In repeat of last year, Beyond Politics once again collected the award for Best Public Affairs Program, while Green Living was hailed as the Best Educational Program. Hardball, which also won last year, meanwhile, was again selected as the Best Sports Program.

Also returning this year was ANC business news anchor and managing editor Cathy Yang, who accepted the Best Business Program award for The Boss. You might remember that she and her production team won in the same category last year for her late-night newscast Business Nightly.

"Thank you Team for the honour and recognition of 'Best Business Program' on the 16th Gawad Tanglaw Awards. To the Bosses whom we've interviewed, and those in the technical and creatives teams who work with us to produce informative and inspiring narratives of leaders in our midst, mabuhay kayong lahat!" Yang posted on her Instagram account on Saturday shortly after winning the award.

Similarly, GMA-7 also won more than a dozen awards — the majority of which also belonged to its news and public affairs division.

As was last year, Reporter's Notebook took home the Best Documentary Program award, only this time tying with GMA News TV's Brigada. And for the second year in a row, Cesar Apolinario and Susan Enriquez's I Juander was again chosen as the Best Magazine Show, while Mike Enriquez's Imbestigador repeated its Best Investigative Program win.

Other Kapuso winners include 24 Oras Weekend's Pia Arcangel for Best TV Female Anchor and Unang Hirit's Ivan Mayrina for Best TV Male Anchor.

Mayrina, for his part, posted the following on his Instagram account: "A heartfelt 'thank you' to the men and women behind Gawad Tanglaw for this recognition. Awards like these are an affirmation that we are doing something right. But more importantly, a challenge for us to carry on and do better."

The awarding ceremony, which was held at the Cinematheque Centre Manila last May 5, also handed out its Presidential Jury awards. The winners for this cycle were Sen. Loren Legarda for her work on Dayaw, ANC's Air Safari, and the long-running debate program Square Off.
