Die-hard Duterte supporter and broadcaster Erwin Tulfo has criticized Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales for her agency's move to investigate the alleged hidden wealth of President Rodrigo Duterte and his family.

In a profanity-filled commentary on his Facebook Live broadcast on Saturday, September 30, the former TV5 anchor questioned the "impartiality" of the Ombudsman in the ongoing graft probe.

"It's not the question of nothing to hide. It's the question of issue or partiality-impartiality of the Ombudsman.

For the newly installed anchor of PTV4, the Ombudsman is "biased" when it comes to dealing with cases involving those perceived to be allies of the previous administration, citing what happened to former senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla, who were all charged with graft and plunder for the PDAF scam.

"Sige nga, Conchita Carpio-Morales, answer me or answer us — the people. 'Yung dilaw abswelto," he said.

According to Tulfo, it was him who brought up the idea of creating a commission that will investigate the Office of the Ombudsman during his one-on-one interview with Mr. Duterte last week.

"Kaya sinasabi ng Pangulo magtatag ng commission, pabor ho ako doon. I was the one who asked the question [in the PTV4 interview]. Tulfo said.

Wala eh.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines earlier said that the Office of the Ombudsman is "an independent body" and "must be insulated from political pressure," especially from Mr. Duterte, who has vowed to arrest officials of the anti-graft body who will not cooperate to investigations of his proposed "independent" commission.

“The creation of another body either by executive issuance or by an act of Congress that effectively defeats the independence and flexibility needed by the ombudsman in the discharge of her duties is, at best, constitutionally suspect,” IBP President Abdiel Dan Elijah Fajardo said in a statement.
