AGB Nielsen: GMA-7's SONA 2017 coverage is the most-watched nationwide

GMA-7's coverage of President Rodrigo Duterte's 2nd State of the Nation Address was the most-watched according to the overnight data gathered by AGB Nielsen.

Based on Nielsen Philippines' TV Audience Measurement, GMA-7's "SONA 2017" scored 37.4 percent people shares. By comparison, ABS-CBN’s “Pangako ng Pagbabago: SONA 2017” scored 34.3 percent.

Also according to the market research firm, the Kapuso Network's coverage registered an even bigger margin in Urban Luzon with overnight people shares of 43.2 percent versus ABS-CBN’s 26.2 percent.

GMA News TV, which also carried Duterte's speech, meanwhile, posted a nationwide rating of 8.4 percent, winning over TV5’s "Unang Taon SONA 2017" coverage, which only got 3.9 percent.

As President Rodrigo Duterte delivered his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 24, GMA News once again stood out as the most trusted source of news and information, both on-air and online.

Based on overnight data from Nielsen Philippines TV Audience Measurement, more Filipinos tuned in to GMA’s live telecast of Pres. Duterte’s speech as the Network’s “SONA 2017” became the most watched coverage nationwide with 37.4 percent people shares. It bested ABS-CBN’s “Pangako ng Pagbabago: SONA 2017”, which only managed to get 34.3 percent.

Further, leading local news channel GMA News TV delivered up-to-the-minute reportage and in-depth analyses from experts on the President’s second SONA via the special coverage “SONA ni PDU30” anchored by GMA News pillars Jessica Soho and Arnold Clavio.

GMA News TV’s “SONA ni PDU30” posted nationwide people shares of 8.4 percent; winning over TV5’s SONA coverage, which only got 3.9 percent. It also recorded a bigger margin in Urban Luzon with 11 percent people shares as against TV5’s 2.4 percent.

GMA News was also the go-to news source online. GMA News’ Facebook Live reached a total of 2,657,146 video views as of 6:30 p.m. of July 25, while ABS-CBN News only got a total of 1,646,732. On YouTube, GMA News’ live stream of President Duterte’s SONA was also the most watched, with 180,704 view counts as of 4:30 p.m. of July 25, way ahead of ABS-CBN News’ 36,962.
