CNN Philippines will retire Network News as the title of its flagship evening newscast.

As announced by the network in a recent intimate lunch with members of the media, the hour-long broadcast will be called News Night beginning March 27.

CNN Philippines Chief Correspondent Pia Hontiveros will remain the anchor of the broadcast, while pulling double duty as the new anchor of Global Newsroom replacing Claire Celdran.

"We always have the audience in mind. We continue to evolve... earning the trust of viewers in the country and beyond," said Nine Media Corp. President Armie Jarin-Bennett. "News is first at CNN Philippines."

The local CNN station has been making sweeping changes in recent weeks. Aside from launching new shows such as Harvest and Political Insider, the network has also expanded its news coverage with a weekend edition of Newsroom, as well as revamping New Day with a new on-air team.

Network News made its debut in June 2012 back when the network was still known as Talktv. It was the first full hour broadcast produced by then-Solar News.

Eventually, it would launch a half-hour weekend edition anchored by former CNN Philippines anchor Roanna Jamir, and later on by Mai Rodriguez.
