First on MNP: Paul Henson is stepping down as the North America Bureau Chief of ABS-CBN, Media Newser Philippines has learned.

Henson, who has been with ABS-CBN for the last 17 years, will finish out his tenure as the bureau's top man by the end of this month.

According to our sources, Henson will return to ABS-CBN Manila and will remain there before his retirement from the network in May.

No successor has been named but we were told that desk editor Miranda de Quiros will be in charge for the time being, with The Filipino Channel head of Media Production and Entertainment Group John Lazatin expected to provide operational support.

Henson held a number of positions throughout his television career at ABS-CBN: from writer to editor to producer. He assumed the coveted bureau chief post in 2014, succeeding fellow kapamilya veteran Nadia Trinidad.

Previously, he served as the executive producer of the late-night newscast Bandila; and a producer and reporter for TV Patrol World.
