CNN Philippines via a press statement released on Saturday said that the program will be delayed for a week — February 6 from its original planned premiere date of January 30. It will also now be called Newsroom Ngayon.
As part of its programming expansion this 2017, CNN Philippines is set to launch Newsroom in Filipino, a new daily newscast to be anchored by former GMA News reporter Ruth Cabal.
Set to air from 10AM to 10:30AM, Newsroom in Filipino will replace the public service program Serbisyo All Access, which will continue to be an important component of the half-hour broadcast as a special segment.
“We hope to connect with more Filipinos — tell their stories and engage with them through Newsroom in Filipino," says Armie Jarin-Bennett, President of CNN Philippines/Nine Media Corporation. "The additional news program is part of our overall strategy to make sure we are delivering the news as they happen.”
Newsroom in Filipino, which will debut on Monday, January 30, will be the second Filipino-language newscast to be broadcast by the local CNN station.
In April of last year, the network launched Pinky Webb's Balitaan as a replacement for the noontime edition of Newsroom.
