Starting August, all of the Kapatid Network's daily news broadcasts, with the exception of Aksyon Prime, will be switching to a single-anchor format — which means that viewers will no longer be seeing a duo of anchors anchoring Aksyon Sa Umaga, Aksyon Sa Tanghali and Aksyon Tonite.
Affected by the latest cutbacks are the anchors and hosts of Umaga: Grace Lee, France Noguera, Renz Ongkiko, Jeff Caparas, and Atty. Mel Sta. Maria, who will continue as co-anchor of Relasyon on Radyo5.
Cheryl Cosim, who will be the lone anchor of the morning program, will be leaving her post on Tonite — making Ed Lingao the solo anchor of the TV5 late-night newscast.
Tanghali, which was originally co-anchored by Cherie Mercado — until she left just two weeks ago to become the new spokesperson for the Department of Transportation and Communication — will continue with its lone holdover, Raffy Tulfo.
The changes at TV5's news programming are seen both as a restructuring effort for and by the news division, and as a reaction to the departures of many of its news talents.
Aside from Martin Andanar and Mercado, reporters Ina Zara and Jun Loyola have also joined the Duterte administration.
