First on MNP: Roanna Jamir leaving CNN Philippines

By Media Newser Philippines | Saturday, November 28, 2015

CNN Philippines anchor Roanna Jamir is about to exit the network, we have learned.

Jamir, in a post on her Facebook account Saturday, made the announcement, saying she has "decided to be a freelance journalist where I am able to travel, write music, practice my art, write my book, enjoy life and just be happy." She adds, "My family and I will be traveling for the next several of years, and so even though I may say goodbye to my anchor post; I will never say goodbye to seeking stories to share with you."

Jamir came to the network in 2014 back when it was still known as Solar News Channel. She has since then been anchoring its news bulletin, Updates, and has guest-hosted its now-defunct morning show Daybreak.

She joined the network full-time in March -- just in time for its rebranding to CNN Philippines -- and was eventually tasked to anchor Network News Weekend, while also serving as correspondent, reporting mainly on human interest stories.

In our interview with her published just this week, Jamir talked about her career, saying: "Professionally, I'd have to say it's proving to myself over and over again, with the many jobs and careers I've taken on, that anything is possible. Your goals and dreams can be achieved, if you have enough passion and determination to reach it. Sometimes, the challenge in knowing that anything is possible, is having to ask yourself, 'Now I've achieved this, what more can I achieve? What else is there out there that I can also do?' I've been called an overachiever by many of my friends, but I like to think of it as simply knowing anything can be possible, truly believing in it and making things happen."

Jamir will anchor her final broadcast tomorrow night.

For 9 months I have been part of the Philippine franchise of CNN. I've met inspirational journalists. I've become friends with some of the most eager and promising ones. A true honor. I am thankful for all that I have learned and the memories I will take with me.

But now, it's time for me to set off on a new adventure.

I have decided to be a freelance journalist where I am able to travel, write music, practice my art, write my book, enjoy life and just be happy.

My family and I will be traveling for the next several of years, and so even though I may say goodbye to my anchor post; I will never say goodbye to seeking stories to share with you.

Everyone needs much
Peace, Love & Light
