On Thursday, it became apparent that super typhoon Yolanda was going to be destructive, as reported by various weather agencies.

Friday we saw ABS-CBN News' Atom Araullo on the scene in Tacloban, as he weathered the strong winds and rains just to cover the typhoon for Umagang Kay Ganda.

Araullo was lauded by netizens for his "bravery" with some calling him a hero. One Twitter user tweeted:

On GMA-7, it was Jiggy Manicad who led the network's coverage. He was also in Tacloban, while fellow Kapuso reporter and Unang Hirit co-host Love Añover reported from Palo, Leyte.

Añover, known for her coverage of calamities on Unang Hirit, got choked up while recalling her experience to Jessica Soho during an exchange on State of the Nation Friday.

"Noong nandun kami sa loob talaga Ma'am Jess ng cathedral, talagang iisipin mo na katapusan na talaga ng mundo. Hindi na namin alam kung saan kami pupunta kasi yung ikot nung hangin napakalakas na umaatungal yung tunog niya parang gusto niyang gibain yung buong cathedral," she said.

As what mentioned in the report, Añover and her team was inside the cathedral when the typhoon pummeled the area. In a compelling video captured by the GMA News team, strong winds brought by the typhoon ripped off the roof of the cathedral.

Last night on 24 Oras Weekend, reporter Micaela Papa made her account of what she witnessed while covering the typhoon.

Talking to fill-in anchor Jessica Soho, Papa said: "Kami sa media nakaranas na kami magcover ng signal number 4, so meron kaming expectation na kung gaano kalakas dapat itong signal number 4."

She went on to describe it as "pinakamalala" and "pinakamalakas na bagyong naranasan ng ating team."

Also on Twitter, netizens praised the GMA News team for their coverage.
