Korina Sanchez finally explained her absence on TV Patrol. Speaking to substitute anchor Jasmin Romero on her very own radio program Rated Korina, Sanchez has confirmed our earlier report -- that the reason for her absence on her evening newscast is that she is taping a special episode of Rated K.

"Kasi maraming mga espekulasyon bakit wala ako sa studio last week. Ang spekulasyon naman ano hindi naman totoo 'yan. Matagal na kasing naka-schedule ang Rated K sa pag-iikot sa iba't-ibang nasalanta ng delubyo. So, ito'y trabaho," she said. (There are many speculations why I wasn't in the studio last week. These speculations aren't true. Rated K has been scheduled early on to tour the typhoon-hit areas. This is work.)

Sanchez said that her team has gone to Western Visayas and then Bohol. And much like our earlier report, Sanchez said that she and her crew were originally planned to be in Tacloban, but according to her, they were prevented from continuing the trip.

"Pinigilan kami ng kumpanya dahil delikado daw, so na-divert kami sa Ormoc. Dalawang araw ako dun," she said. (We were prevented by the company from continuing the trip so we diverted to Ormoc. We stayed there for two days.)

She also added that her team went to Zamboanga and will be heading next to Iloilo, Palawan and Mindoro, where she will distribute tents to typhoon victims.

"Tatapusin ko lang ito, babalik din ako diyan. Inaayos ko lang itong for airing namin itong darating na Sunday," she said. (I will just finish my work here and I'll be back in the studio. We are just finalizing the materials for this Sunday's airing).

Watch the video below:

Pilipino Star Ngayon reported over the weekend that Korina Sanchez was suspended by the ABS-CBN management on TV Patrol, following her controversial remarks against CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

According to the tabloid's report, Sanchez will not be seen on the newscast for one week, and that according to a “press release,” she will be taking a vacation.
“Isang linggo palang hindi mapapanood si Korina Sanchez sa TV Patrol. Balita ng source, bakasyon daw ang press release na pinalulutang.  Pero may duda silang pinagbakasyon ang misis ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas dahil sa epekto ng mga banat sa pagkontra ni Ms. Korina sa report ng American journalist na si Anderson Copper sa CNN."
Sounds legit, right? But there's one problem: the story was sensationalized. According to a reliable insider, Sanchez is actually in the south doing a special episode of Rated K airing this Sunday. She will also continue filing reports on DZMM, and will be seen on TV Patrol in the coming days.

This network insider added that Sanchez originally wanted to report from Tacloban last week, but after the Anderson Cooper debacle, the ABS-CBN News management decided to change their initial plan, and dispatched her instead in Ormoc.

You may remember that Cooper's observation on the situation in Tacloban irked Sanchez and reportedly responded to her radio program, saying: "Itong si Anderson Cooper sabi wala raw government presence sa Tacloban. Mukhang hindi niya alam ang sinasabi niya." (This Anderson Cooper said that there's no government presence in Tacloban. It seems that he doesn't know what he's saying.)
